preliminary task

updates

last week we uploaded our plimenary task on adobe.
we had some year 13's to help us with editing.
we could do much because the computers were slow.
today we going to be editing it again.
we look at some music that we could add to our preliminary task.

December Research and Planning Mark

Asandile,

You have analysed a couple of 2 minute openings. Your blog is presented clearly and you analyse in detail.

Targets:
Planning - questionnaire/shot lists/storyboard/animatic/audience research/mood board etc are all tasks you need to start thinking about over the next month
Research - When analyisng opening 2 minutes - discuss the order of titles and credits etc - when does the directors name come up - over the action or over black screen etc
Research - You need to analyse more openings of films and especially ones that fit in with your idea - avoid non films and trailers (Spooks/Titanic)

Mark:
You should have 30-40 posts by now - an hour's work per lesson we have - at the moment we are looking at D grade territory so we need to step up the posts - see other blogs in year 12 and 13 and reflect on all the work we have done so far.

practise task

when we adited our practice task we added some lights sound .We changed the sound of the piono because it didnt sound right.The lights in the carrodoors we edited that and made it dark.brings more attention to the audience because at the end of the passage the lights became lighter leaves them questioning whats is going on.Other than the piono the is no other sound that we added in.We only used titles at the end ,in those titles we just included the directers ,the characters ect.the costumes that we used are just clothes that we normaly wear at school. it didnot reali explain a certain character.although it did represent teenages.we could have used other different shots like close up,re-verse shot.the most shot that we used was a long shot..because we were in a rush..

media dairy 24-11-2010

when we went out to do our premilary task.the vanue that we chose was a quite place because it was during lessons so not much people came to the bathroom.although we had problems when we did the scene of people walking down the passage.we had to have the door open and the people were complaining because it was cold so we had to hurry up so we can close it. at some scenes we had to hurry up because nicole had maths next so we couldnt re-do her part.we had to stop a few times because people came to use the toilets.we didnt have a problem with the weather because we did ours in doors.

romance cliches

• Romantic fils are based on a simple formula:were a boy meets a girl,the boy loses girl,boy finds girl again.
• In these cliches a clasic romance is that the female lead sometimes never ends up with the man they supose to spend the rest of her life with.
• Romances are constracted around the idea that love is an obsticle course.
• The above is actully the theme of every jane Austen novel.
• All romances are buld upon the idea that prince charming exist,and that he might be temporarily unavailable.for instance the weird guy who keeps popping in from the future in the time traveller's wife
• powerfull cliches associateted withe the genre includes the bride groom suddenly  getting ditched at the alta.
• A romatic film frequently feature the pushy but lovable mother for example befuddled father,the fat,and the gay neighbour.
• Teen romance have their own separate cliches: mostly they have one separate cliches.you normal see teenages from out of town find it hard to fit in so they start hanging around with social misfits,goths etc.
• Dance has become a crucial element in romantic films.dance can save a relationship,a marriage.it often contains the scene where the rich white kid is exposed to vibrant inner-city culture,often through dance.

horror film cliches

• Horror movies are divided into several different categories,for example slasher,zombies and vampirez.
• All of the above subgenres rely on worthy.
• Indeed,horror is the one genre in which the absence of cliches woul ruin everything
• If vampires were not likeable in some strange,misunderstood,vamperic way,vampire movies would be nowhere near as popular as they are.
• Small children are often evil in horror movies.if they are not evil they are trouble loners who consort with invisible playmates are evil.
• Teenagers in horror movies are usually spoiled brats who deserve to die.most of the times they arethe products of broken homes.
• Horror movies work best in rural settings because rustics are scary in and of themselves.lots of farm tools on hand and no neighbours to beg for help.
• Horror films do not work wel in places like holland,because horror films require basements,for the crucial scene.
• Linen closets and tidy storage areas are surprisingly common in ASIAN films.In the west linen closets are simply not scary.
• Horror films always have a women washing her face in the sink or taking a shower even though it has been a terrible idea since physco.
• They also contain lots of scenes in which the living dead or the living undead zip past an open door or window.
• In horror movies its not a good idea to sleep,accept rides from strangers,or respond to a personal ad.
• Computers in horror are another place where the dead sometimes lay low.
• Rabbis rarely appear in horror films.
• estates agents can never be trusted in horror films.
• never go into a dark room alone because someone in the film you are developing will come to life and rip your lungs out.

SPOOKS

In the beginning of there film sooks there is an arch shot.When the man is in the office,it brings attention to the audience of what he is up to.Straight after that there is a zoom shot in his office when he is thinking.When there men is walking towards the car a mirror shot and a mid-shot is used.Arch shot when he is sleeping this helps us to get to know more about the character.Close up shot(to bring tension).There is a two shot when there women is walking towards the cleaner ,it shows us the relationship,or connection they have.When he ran towards the phone there was a tracking shot.As there film crrryies on there is a man wearing a black suit which  looked suspecious ,a crane shot was moved to a long shot.To give us an idea of what he was going to do next.In there film the is alot bgoing on in there characters life's.The women finally reached there men in a suit when they are sitting together a crane shot is used to show they relationship.A mid-shot of there mother of there children when she is in the car shows her body language which is possitive becouse she is smiling while talking to them.Another zoom shot is used when the rubbish cleaner walks towards there car when it explod.Arch shot when the rubbish cleaner is lighting there cigarrete.There moves whith the car when its burning.Tilt shot brings facial expression to there audience  when there women is in bed which showed suspecioun.

There turn of there key all of the sudden cuts to the children,it related to what might happen next.Some cuts in there film are from slow scenes to fast or visverse.There most effective shot is at there beggining it kind of draws the audience to there film.Characters in there film were misterous and suspecious.From the sound,location,and there characters you will expect an action film,(lots of blood,dead people,and violence).

There are men in suit so that connotes that they are organised,or wealth.There setting is in the street of new york.Women in the film just wear ordinary clothing.There isnt much stereotype involved.

SOUND

At the begging of this is england a song is being played and its a slow song which shows emotion.It brings the audience to the scene tells us more of whats going on .The mood make us feel sad when watching the film.

There is an instrument played along with the song,like a piano.its more like relaxing ,and the boy in the scene is not in a  rush so kind of goes with there music.There sound gets louder when he gets to the beach.As soon as he throws there flag there musing goes low and just stops.Its like the end of the world or something.

 

There were quite a lot of camera shots in the film.There is a long shot of the boat and bog together.show they relationship between the to off them.They first show us the old boat in a long distance.There is another long shot with the boy and there boat,since the boat is old so that mean that his life is dull.Extreme  long shot when he is walking to the beach.there show another shot when he throws the flag in the water.At the end of the film there is an extrem close up shot type to show his facial expression.Bring the audience to there character.

there is body language in there film at there beginning he walks with his head down,and there is no one else around him so that shows us that he is alone.he is not happy(he must be upset about something.He slowly walks to there beach(there is emotion tells us about there character.His facila expression show anger,sad,lonelyness,unwanted etc.his walks with his hands by his side connotes hopeless,a child wouldnt walk like that and he will be happy and all over there plce so he is different from most kids.He has thoughtfull movements.makes us wonder about what he his thinking about.There reason why used there flag it show that he is let down by there country.

Its like he is in middle of no were.There are no houses  around.broken fence.There beach bring back memories of what happend in there past.Lots of wind so its must be really cold.Its a stonney beach.There grass is not really green its like there desserd.There are no cars around ,there are no proper roads.

GENRE OF THE FILM-HOW DID YOU KNOW THAT

GANGSTER
The language they use is explicit(straight forward and clear for every one to under stand wht is going on,leaving nothing merely implied).

There are man in black suits(it connotes that theyare professional and the fact that they are organised to attack).

One of the reasons we know that the genre of the film is gangster is becouse the main character says" I have always wanted to be a gangster.

WHAT IS THE  PURPOSE OF THIS OPENING SEQUENCE?

There is killing which connotes that the is going to be violence in the film.

There voilence in the film also tells us what is going on in their lives(and how they turned to be like that)

To let us know about the setting of the film.....

HOW IS THE PURPOSE ACHIEVED THROUGH THE MEDIA

They are driving in the dark.Connotes that they are up to something(up to something illegal,dnt want people to see what they are doing).If they do it during the day they might be caught and get into trouble .

When they stab the man in the back of the car there is read shown.

There quite a few camera movements in the film.
when the scene starts there is a mid-shot of the men in the car.shows they body language,what kind of men they are.while they are still driving they hear a noice frm there back of the car,and they start wondering what it is ,as they walk out of the car there is a long short of the men standing away from the car.They are standing there suspiciasly.It realate to the audience ,makes you think about yourself if you were in that position.
There is a zoom shot away from the car to the men ,its how they relate to the back of the car and as the camera comes closer you realise the mens facial experience.
When there person in there back offf the car is stabed ther is a mid-shot of the main character show that he is more involved in there killing than the actual killer..There main character starts shoting the guy in the back of the car,there is a panning shot of both the on stabing and the main character..

There sound of there car moving(you can hear that the car is moving fast.In there begging there is a a sound that sounded like a storm comining from the back(it could be a sign og danger).After that they hear that sound there is figiting from the back of the car.He stops the car and we hear the door being closed(intermotif mood).You can also hear the boot opening (there key being twistad).There main character starts shoting at the guy in there boot there other characters in the scene can aslo hear there gun shot(loud noice in the scene they can see and hear it at the same time.There sound at night its like there is wind.
There isnt much dialogue in the film ,the only dialogue that is used in the scene  is at there end,there main character says"i have always wanted to be a gangster"it is relistic(we are there in there scene
